The adventure begins with your arrival in Tbilisi, the capital city of Georgia. We rendezvous at a prearranged hotel, with all travelers expected to arrive by 5:00 pm (local time). We enjoy a peaceful overnight stay before the real adventure begins in the morning.

  1. Day 1 Tbilisi – Akhaltsikhe: Hitting the Road
    • We begin the day with a tour of Tbilisi and its city center before enjoying a nice lunch.
    • After lunch we head west driving our 4X4 vehicles.
    • We ascend to the Jvari monastery from which we can enjoy a fantastic view over Mtskheta, one of Georgia’s oldest cities.
    • Our tour continues as we head towards the village of Khashuri, from which we ascend along the banks of the Mt’k’vari River.
    • We enter Akhaltsikhe, a city that played an important role in the region’s move to becoming an independent state in 1991.
    • We take a walk around the city until dinnertime.
    • We stay overnight in the city.
  2. Day 2 Zakary Pass - Kutaisi
    • In the morning we depart the city and travel along an impressive and special route.
    • We cross the small Caucasus through the Zakary Pass.
    • As we head north, we visit villages and witness the foliage and flowers in bloom.
    • The route overlooks the High Caucasus, which on a clear day can be seen in all its glory.
    • We glide towards the city of Kutaisi, where we get settled in a hotel before going out and exploring the city.
    • Our tour of the city takes in the statue gardens on the banks of the Rioni River and the lovely city center.
    • We end the day with a visit to a local restaurant for a delicious dinner.
  3. Day 3 Georgia’s Hidden Magical Corner & the Black Sea
    • The morning sees us leave Kutaisi and head for the city of Senaki.
    • The climb north takes us to the slopes of the High Caucasus.
    • Here we enter the spectacular canyons and discover a hidden and magical part of Georgia almost untouched by tourism.
    • We park up and go rafting in a magnificent gorge.
    • Back on land we take a walk inside the wonderful world of these canyons.
    • Towards the afternoon we hit the road once more and drive to the shores of the Black Sea.
    • We dine at a hotel at the seaside resort of Anaklia, where we also stay overnight.
  4. Day 4 Mestia (Svaneti): Tackling the High Caucasus
    • Our morning begins with us enjoying a breathtaking sea view as we eat breakfast.
    • Once more in our 4×4 vehicles, we leave Anaklia and head towards the city of Zugdidi, where we visit its small city center.
    • We enjoy lunch in the city before ascending the mountains and leaving the modern day life behind.
    • Our drive takes us through incredible landscapes as we start our climb north to the Svaneti region.
    • We ascend along the spectacular Angory Lake, in our first encounter with the High Caucasus.
    • We climb canyon roads to the village of Mestia, which is surrounded by high peaks.
    • After check-in at a local hotel, we take a walking tour of Mestia with its towers and alleyways.
    • The day comes to a close with dinner at the hotel.
  5. Day 5 Ushguli: Marveling at Glaciers
    • In the morning we depart Mestia and head for the outskirts of the Oshawa Mountain (4,700 meters), reaching an impressive glacier.
    • If we’re lucky, we see the glacier’s frontier in light blue.
    • Our drive takes us East through Caucasusian villages, home to shepherds and farmers.
    • We climb toward the spectacular tower village of Ushguli, a UNESCO Heritage Site.
    • We overlook the eternal glacier of the Shkhara ridge – the highest ridge in Georgia.
    • We take a walk through the alleyways of this special village, where each corner holds a new surprise.
    • We stay overnight in a local family’s home, and eat dinner they prepare for us.
  6. Day 6 Kutaisi: Glaciers, Rivers and Spas
    • Our day’s drive begins with a climb to a tremendous, blooming mountain pass.
    • The descent south passes along a path adorned with glaciers, peaks and blooming foliage.
    • We cross small bridges over raging rivers, the experience enough to make your heart skip a beat!
    • We pass through vibrant Georgian villages as well as abandoned, sad-looking villages.
    •  Upon reaching the village of Lentekhi we are treated to a lunch hosted by local women.
    • Our journey takes us along the ‘Horse Spring’ River, as we drive towards the spa town of Tskaltubo.
    • We embark on a tour of the Soviet spa town, witnessing some stunning structures.
    • We head back to Kutaisi for dinner in an excellent restaurant.
  7. Day 7 Kutaisi – Tbilisi: Our Journey Comes to a Close

     

    • In the morning we leave Kutaisi and head back to the capital of Tbilisi.
    • We spend the rest of the day exploring Tbilisi’s city center.
    • Our tour of the city takes in a stunning vista of Tbilisi itself from the Kartlis Deda monument, also known as ‘Mother Georgia’.
    • We visit the Narikala fortress which rises above the city.
    • Our explorations also take in the city’s synagogue and the Hamam (Turkish bath), while we walk along the banks of Mt’k’vari River.
    • We enjoy dinner in the early evening, before travelers depart for the airport and their plane home.
