The adventure starts with your arrival in Casablanca, where you rendezvous with tour guides and other travelers at a specified hotel in the city. All travelers must meet at the hotel before 5pm (local time). We enjoy an overnight stay before hitting the road early in the morning.

  1. Day1 Casablanca – Meknes: The Jerusalem of the Maghreb
    • Our Moroccan experience begins with a tour bus journey towards the city of Meknes.
    • This lengthy journey takes in hilly landscapes and interesting block-built villages.
    • We arrive in the walled city of Meknes, a locale loaded with fascinating history.
    • During our visit we take in the lovely market adjacent to the King’s Palace.
    • We explore the Jewish Quarter and learn about the city known as ‘The Jerusalem of the Maghreb’.
    • Our journey continues onward to Fes, Morocco’s third largest city, for an overnight stay.
  2. Day 2 Fes: Exploring ‘The Mecca of the West’
    • After breakfast, we will spend some time exploring Fes.
    • Along the way we will stop to admire views of the most beautiful ‘state’ in Morocco.
    • Our explorations bring us to the Royal Palace of Fes – Dar el Makhzen – and though the Mellah (Jewish Quarter).
    • We take in synagogues and cemeteries as we continue to explore.
    • We enter the Old City with its thousands of alleyways and try not to get lost in the labyrinth-like settlement.
    • Along the way we visit the Tanners’ Quarter, the Carpenters’ Guild and blacksmiths’ shops.
    • We visit a local Madrasa (religious school) and riad (house with interior courtyard).
    • Our explorations take us to the most famous ceramics and mosaics factories in Morocco.
    • We wrap-up our on-foot tour with a trip to the city’s Southern Fortress with its stunning views of the surrounding vista.
    • We enjoy a delicious dinner and stay overnight in Fes.
  3. Day 3 Fes – Atlas Mountains: Exploring the Central Atlas Mountains and Beyond
    • The morning commences as we collect our 4X4 vehicles.
    • Our mountainous journey begins with a trip along a winding road to the top of the Central Atlas.
    • Here we’ll discover beautiful snow-capped peaks.
    • Our journey includes a visit to Ifrane – the vacation resort of Morocco’s royal family.
    • Our drive continues through the Central Atlas landscape towards the High Atlas.
    • We descend for a short while until we reach the rift from where the Atlas again rises.
    • We ascend once more, arriving at a Kasbah above the city of Beni-Mellal.
    • The Kasbah provides a superb panorama over the Atlantic plains.
    • We stop at a hotel located between the mountains and the plain.

    We enjoy dinner at the hotel before spending the night.

  4. Day 4 Beni-Mellal – Ahsansal: Rivers, Clay Villages and Berber Lands
    • Our morning begins with a climb to the snow-capped peaks of the Atlas Mountains.
    • As we drive up the mountain we’re presented with magnificent Berber villages built from clay and mud.
    • Our descent takes us towards the wondrous Ait Bougmez Valley.
    • We visit the Amazigh (Berber) people, who take the time to play host.
    • We visit a number of graves dedicated to Jewish saints idolized by the locals.
    • Our journey takes us across a beautiful mountain pass which has desert on its east side and green fields to its north.
    • We gently glide down the mountain to the fascinating village of Ahansal, which was built entirely with clay.
    • We spend the night as guests in a local home.
  5. Day 5 Ahansal – Imilchil: The Blossom of the Kokliko
    • In the morning we drive past Berber villages in the heart of the Atlas.
    • We follow the course of the El-‘Abid River, using its bridges to cross.
    • We once more ascend toward the high peaks in this part of the Atlas.
    • We pass through the village of Taglipat, where there is often a busy market.
    • Our journey takes us through a forest of Juniper trees on our way to Tasrapat Valley.
    • We continue on a magnificent road, through high valleys towards Imilchil.
    • The route takes us past Imilchil Lake on the way to our hotel in the village.
    • We enjoy dinner and stay overnight in the high valley.
  6. Day 6 Imilchil – Tinghir: Rivers, Desert and the Great Canyons
    • In the morning we cross the Atlas’s watershed, heading south.
    • Our journey takes us through a beautiful region, taking in magnificent villages and scenery.
    • We descend toward the channels of the Todra River.
    • Our descent follows the channels of this great canyon – the Todra Gorge.
    • We stop to enjoy a walk in the canyon, making sure to visit the nearby oasis.
    •  We recommence our descent, following the river to a vista point over the Todra villages.
    • Upon arrival in the town of Tinghir, we get settled in a hotel.
    • We enjoy dinner at the hotel.
  7. Day 7 Tinghir – Zagora: the Valley of Draaa, Bab n’Ali Oasis and Thousands of Palm Trees
    • In the morning we set out for the granite Sahro Mountain on the Anti Atlas ridge.
    • Our travel route offers stunning scenery as we move on towards the impressive Tazazrt pass.
    • The pass itself will offer an incredible southern view.
    • We stop for coffee/tea near the mountain pass.
    • We descend to the exorcism site, ‘Bab n’Ali’.
    • We learn of the ‘Zeeras’ (pilgrimages) to this special place.
    • Our journey continues along the Oasis of Nekob before we depart toward the Draa Valley.
    • Our drive takes us along the magnificent Draa Valley, which is adorned with thousands of palm trees.
    • Along the way we meet Draa tribes, witness Kasbahs and visit villages.
    • We reach the city of Zagora where we settle into our hotel.
    • Our stay in Zagora gives us a chance to explore this wonderful city, including its impressive palm tree area.
  8. Day 8 Zagora – Shgaga: Camel Caravans, Dunes, Star-Studded Skies and the Sahara!
    • In the morning we visit the synagogue in Amazrou.
    • From here we visit the local ceramics factories in Tamegroute.
    • We cross the desert near the gates of the Sahara and descend to the Saharan village of Mhamid.
    • We eat lunch in the village and depart toward the Sahara.
    • A quick drive takes us across small dunes before we reach the open desert.
    • Our next stop is a beautiful oasis, adorned with palm trees and a spring, in the heart of the desolate desert.
    • We continue on towards the enormous dunes of Shgaga.
    • Upon reaching a tent camp within the dunes, we head out on a drive in the sea of dunes.
    • We stop, and on foot climb the highest dune of them all, taking in the magnificent vista.
    • We return to the campsite for dinner, enjoying a bonfire and singing beneath the star studded night sky.
  9. Day 9 Shgaga – Ouarzazate: Forests, Lakes and Desert
    • In the morning we cross an amazing desert forest full of red apple of Sodom bushes.
    • We continue to the Iriki Lake where we will see the Fata Morgana phenomena.
    • We cross a magnificent desert plain up to the gate of the Sahara – Zagid.
    • Our journey returns to the paved roads, where we start climbing toward the Anti-Atlas ridge.
    • We traverse the ridge, the lofty heights offering stunning views of the snow-capped High Atlas.
    • We continue towards the city of Ouarzazate, where one of the world’s largest move studios is located.
    • We check-in at hotel in the city, before enjoying a walk to the Kasbah within the city’s ancient quarter.
    • Our day closes with dinner and an overnight stay in our Ouarzazate hotel.
  10. Day 10 Ouarzazate – Marrakech: The Big Kasbahs
    • In the early morning we find ourselves overlooking the magnificent ‘Aït Benhaddou’ Kasbah, in which many movies have been filmed.
    • We ascend along the salt axis towards the Telouet Kasbah, which we take the time to explore.
    • We speak with the El Glaoui family, who are among those who established these Kasbahs.
    • Our journey continues towards the Tichka Atlas pass, before we begin the descent to Marrakech.
    • Upon entering the city, we return our 4×4 vehicles and check-in to a hotel before immediately heading out on an excursion within the city.
    • The rest of the day is spent enjoying an adrenaline-filled tour of the hectic city, taking in the sights, the sounds, the smells and the hustle and bustle.
    • Our tour takes in the city square and the food market, before we head out for a night on the town.
    • We spend one last night at the hotel.
  11. Day 11 Returning Home
    • We take advantage of the time we have left to go out for a spot of last minute shopping.
    • Travelers head for Marrakesh-Menara Airport to begin their journey home.
