The adventure begins with your arrival in Tbilisi, the capital city of Georgia. We rendezvous at a prearranged hotel, with all travelers expected to arrive by 5:00 pm (local time). We enjoy a peaceful overnight stay before the real adventure begins in the morning.

  1. Day 1 Tbilisi – Bakuriani: The Journey Begins!
    • After breakfast we collect our 4×4 vehicles and drive west.
    • We cross Karli and ascend along an abandoned road toward the mountains.
    • Our journey takes us along a forested mountain pass on our way to Bakuriani.
    • As we descend from the mountain pass we take in a number of Georgian villages, home to local farmers.
    • We stay overnight at Bakuriani – a Georgian ski town.
  2. Day 2 Bakuriani – Akhaltsikhe: Exploring Georgia’s Hidden Caves
    • After breakfast we depart via a dirt road going south.
    • We reach a small, hidden lake and enjoy some morning coffee.
    • We drive through Georgia’s expansive landscapes toward the cave city of Vardzia.
    • We visit an ancient Christian church that has become a city.
    • On foot we explore a number of caves both over ground and underground.
    • We make our way to the town on Akhaltsikhe where we stay overnight.
  3. Day 3 Akhaltsikhe – Kazbegi: Towards Russia
    • The morning sees us depart, heading north east to the beautiful lake at Zhinvali.
    • Our travel passes along the military road north – a road that leads to Russia.
    • We visit the Ananuri fortress located above the lake.
    • We go out to the harmony porch for an afternoon of scenery and stories.
    • Our visit takes in the orange soda springs, amidst the most beautiful scenery of the trip.
    • We ascend to the village of Guduari where we check-in to a hotel.
    • We enjoy an evening meal at the hotel.
  4. Day 4 Kazbegi - Stepantsminda
    • After breakfast we drive to the Gergeti Trinity Church in the small town of Stepantsminda.
    • We visit the church and take in its stunning location and the scenery on view.
    • From here, we depart by foot and walk to beautiful waterfalls on the Russian border.
    • We enter the Taruso canyon, enjoying views that are simply unbelievable!
    • The view offers a chance to see the peak of the Kazabegi Mountain, which is over 5,000 meters high.
    • We return to the hotel, where we enjoy dinner.
  5. Day 5 Guduari – Khevsureti
    • We return to the town of Zhinvali, driving along the eastern side of the lake.
    • Our ascent takes us along a magnificent road to a 2,670 meter mountain pass.
    • We cross over to the isolated Khevsureti region – the most beautiful region in Georgia.
    • We start to discover fortresses, rivers, canyons and small waterfalls.
    • Our journey descends to the village of Shatili, where we get settled in for the night inside a tower house.
    • We finish the day with a walk around the village among its various towers.
  6. Day 6 Khevsureti – Tbilisi: Exploring the Borderlands
    • In the morning we take a tour of the border of Georgia-Russia-Chechnya.
    • Our tour takes in the “Shatili Rocks” – incredible rock formations.
    • We hit the road once more and return via the 2,760 meter high mountain pass.
    • We observe the Western ridge in magnificent snowy white.
    • We depart towards Tbilisi, arriving in the afternoon hours.
    • Upon arrival in the capital, we return our vehicles and check-in at a hotel before enjoying an excursion of the beautiful city.
    • We wrap up our excursions with a delicious dinner.
  7. Day 7 The Journey Comes to a Close
    • On our last day we visit the Narikala fortress that overlooks the city.
    • We will visit the city’s synagogue, the Hamam (Turkish bath), and Sheridan Square.
    • We have a browse around Rustaveli Avenue – the beating heart of Tbilisi.
    • Travelers depart for the airport and their flight home.
